Founding Charter

Vision

To foster the creation of a generation of medical and paramedical professionals who share a vision: to educate fellow professionals and the public by leveraging their advanced expertise in assessing and managing bone health. We aim to deliver cutting edge bone health measurement through advanced technologies including REMS and similar radiation-free bone health measurement systems.

Mission

To deliver world-class education through:

Academic Curriculum: Provided by experts in the fields related to musculoskeletal health.
Hands-on Technology Training: Including training in REMS scanning
Specialty Training: In the interpretation and communication of results of musculoskeletal and bone health investigations.
Clinical Management Training: Training in the clinical management of musculoskeletal health assessment, including REMS and other radiation-free measurement systems, placing the results, and broader health factors, in context with legacy systems including DXA, CT, MRI.
Acquisition of Holistic Knowledge: Of musculoskeletal health including nutrition, hormones, exercise, and lifestyle in relation to bone health.

Purpose

Recognising that bone health is a neglected area of care, particularly in women’s health, the International Institute for Musculoskeletal Health Education exists to:

Train a new generation of musculoskeletal healthcare professionals to use advanced technologies including REMS and other radiation-free bone health assessment systems.
Raise the standard of musculoskeletal health assessment across the UK, Ireland, North America, Australia and beyond.
Act as a global model for bone health education and practice.

IIMHE Kitemark

To be awarded the IIMHE Kitemark of certified excellence as a REMS Practitioner the following standards must be met:

The holder needs to have undertaken an approved course of study that provides them with the knowledge required to understand bone densitometry as performed by REMS and DXA.

The holder will also have had practical training under Echolight Accredited Trainers consisting of:
